A Second Proof

A Second Proof
In my previous writing I had tried to explain, from the book of Daniel, that Jesus should have begun to reign as king in the year 2005, in the months of September–October. Let me state again that I cannot say we saw these signs in those years. I believe that the figures that have come into our hands from the dates are wrong. And as I said, so very many errors and frauds have been committed on this matter that I too know it. Alongside many religions and sects, with the belief that an end is coming, many crazed movements were embarked upon in groups one by one. People went out into the deserts and awaited Jesus there. People, committing mass suicide, even sacrificed their lives senselessly. In our century, the most famous in this business of proclaiming the “end” are the Witnesses. They clung so to dates which they once proclaimed and which still have not come to pass that they expel from among themselves, with great anger, anyone who says a word against this! All this awakened in people distrust and even hatred toward those religions, those groups, even those persons. Perhaps for you too the situation may be the same.
For this reason, please research whether what you read is so. Just as I accept definitely that we can make mistakes, I am also open to every kind of criticism and thought on these subjects. You too, please accept that I can make mistakes. I say these words not with a false humility, but because it is the truth. Had God spoken with me directly, then I would adopt a definite stance. But just as we are not prophets, we are only trying to draw a conclusion from the writings of the prophets as a result of research. Of course, in what I write, I always try to express to God in prayer my wishes for Him to give me understanding. For the only one who can solve all secrets is He Himself. But He is God, and He gives this understanding to whom He wills. We cannot be insolent toward God's works and set limits. In Daniel chapter 12 verse 4 the angel said: “In the last days many men will research and the truth will increase.” For some reason the New Translation of the Holy Scripture has not translated this in an easily understandable way as in the old translation!
Let us come to this second proof.
When we research the book of Daniel, we read many prophecies. We see that most of these are told about the same events but going into different details, looked at from another angle. For instance, in the dream about the statue that the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar saw. God showed him a dream of prophetic character about his own country and the world-ruling countries that would come after it in succession. In another prophetic vision, again a part of these countries is taken up. (The Medes and Persians and the Greek kingdom) And later the four great world-ruling countries are again told in another way. (Daniel 2:31-45; the whole of chapter 7 and chapter 8) I will try to explain the dream in Daniel 2:31-45 very briefly. Daniel explains it anyway. Unlike Daniel I will also write the names of the countries so that we may understand better. What I wish to do is to explain by taking up these three prophecies. For these are information relevant to understanding the year 2005. Again and again I remind you, your Holy Scripture must be with you so that you can follow what I write.

1) The statue — from the head to the feet (Daniel 2:31-45):
- Head of goldBabylon
- Chest and arms of silverthe dual world power Medo-Persia
- Belly and thighs of bronzethe Greek Empire
- Legs of ironthe Roman Empire and the world power that emerged from it, Anglo-America
- Feet — the 10 toes (iron and clay)10 nations, evidently the 10 most influential nations of our day
2) What is written in Daniel 7:4-8 and its interpretation in 7:16-28 tells these nations, which will again come on stage, differently but containing the same subject, thus. The creature resembling a lion is Babylon; the creature resembling a bear is the Median and Persian Empire. The creature resembling a leopard is the Greek or Hellenic kingdom; and the fourth creature, terrible, frightening and very powerful, and the ten horns on its head, again represent 10 countries.
3) After this the prophet Daniel sees yet another vision in chapter 8. The two long-horned ram mentioned in the 3rd verse is the Median-Persian Empire; the single-horned he-goat is the Greek or Hellenic; and the four horns that come up in place of the broken one are the four generals who divided the country among themselves after Alexander the Great died suddenly.
Indeed, again among the details of the last days, in the whole of chapter 11 of the book of Daniel, the kings of the south and the north are in question. This prophecy too is about the kings, the powers on earth. If we accept this too as an account containing a similar subject, this will be the fourth prophecy spoken about the same subjects. Many ideas have been advanced about these kingdoms of the north and south. Sometimes it was France-England, sometimes France-Russia, later America-Russia, and now — funny, but there are even those who think America-Iraq. If I say I do not know, that will probably be best. But it should not be hard to guess that one of the kingdoms among them will be the United States of America.
In the writing I wrote under the title “To the Peoples, Nations and Tongues Dwelling in All the World,” I said the “great tree” in the dream Nebuchadnezzar saw symbolized the Babylonian Empire. Again, in my explanation of the prophecy in that writing, a certain event had to be taken up, and with its fulfillment the time chronometer set running — that is, the indicated time had to be counted. The prophetic style of the book of Daniel is like this. The prophecy that tells of Jesus the Messiah's coming also fits this style. Daniel 9:24-27. You will understand anyway, from the example I will give, that I will use this as a second proof connected with the first subject.
The reason I arrive at the year 2005 is the existence of many different dates which are claimed to be of the same events. For instance, for one event, while some say the destruction of Jerusalem and the going into exile to Babylon and the burning of the temple was 606 B.C., other historians say 586! And I too, following others' error in the knowledge of history, had awaited the prophecy I will now write about the year 2005 to come to pass in the year 2000. I also explain these errors of mine because I wish to point out that it is certain we need correct knowledge of history in order to say “it will happen at exactly such a time.” Perhaps we can understand the prophecy correctly and explain it correctly too. If there is an error in our knowledge of history, nothing will happen on the date we determine; more accurately, it will make me out a liar too. These things are so only on the matter of dates. And could my understanding not be entirely wrong? Whether I believe this or not cannot be a measure. That is, to say to you my belief, “here, this is the measure,” again seems to me like insolence. There are so very many religions that do this. We have come to hate it, we are sick of them by now. How could I, without shame, walk in their footsteps, behave like them. They destroyed by this path many good works they had and did. Unable to show humility, they could not bring themselves, out of their pride, to apologize for simple things. Striving to hide their errors, they expelled from among themselves, without any mercy, those who spoke the truth. They tortured them, even burned them alive. And yet, on the contrary, they ought to have felt gratitude to them. By adopting a militaristic, cruel, ambitious stance, they became a stain and a shame upon the name of Jesus, of the prophets, and of God. Instead of abandoning the wrong attitudes and behaviors of those before them, on the contrary, by taking up the advocacy of those errors, they took upon themselves their sins too, just as they were. I write you the above warnings because I fear God and fear entering into a bad relationship with Him. Not merely for you to be doubters. If you do doubt, or if I am now putting you into doubt, this too is for you to research.
Yes, the second prophecy that makes me say the year 2005 is certainly correct is the prophecy in the 8th chapter of the book of Daniel I mentioned above. It is certain that the angel there speaks of Alexander the Great. For we read this in the angel's own explanation in Daniel 8:20-21. With the help of our knowledge of history too we say this was Alexander the Great. The most important part begins in the 9th verse of the 8th chapter. The events that will come to pass after the broken horn and the four horns that come up in its place, that is, the four generals. (The “four horns” symbolizes the four generals dividing the country among themselves.) The prophecy after that is this, which I am trying to proclaim, that Jesus the Messiah will begin to reign as king in the heavens in the year 2005. (The end will not yet come in that year! But Jesus will become king in the heavens.) I write the numbers of the verses exactly too, so that it may be easier for you to follow.
9) And out of one of them came forth a little horn, which grew exceedingly great toward the south, toward the east, and toward the glorious land. 10) It grew up to the host of the heavens; and it cast down to the ground some of the host and of the stars; and trampled them. 11) It magnified itself even to the prince of that host; and it took away from him the continual burnt offering, and the place of his sanctuary (temple) was cast down. 12) The host, together with the continual burnt offering, was given over to it because of transgression, and it cast down the truth to the ground, did what it pleased, and prospered. 13) And I heard a certain holy one speaking; and another holy one said to the one who was speaking: For how long is this vision concerning the continual burnt offering and the devastating transgression, to give over both the sanctuary (temple, place of worship) and the host to be trampled underfoot? He said to me: Until two thousand three hundred evenings and mornings have come; then the sanctuary shall be purified (cleansed). Daniel 8:9-13
Here too an event must occur, and after it the time chronometer must be set running. This event too — after the strife among the four generals, the date of one of them and consequently of that little horn that will emerge is very important. That little horn, which is a kingdom that has been able to continue its existence down to our present time, plays the leading role in the fulfillment of this whole prophecy. A kingdom that developed itself from the Roman Empire to Anglo-America. According to the dates, the death of Alexander the Great occurred in 323 B.C. (Encyclopaedia Britannica). This date is the date of the long-lasting disagreement among the four generals and finally of the country's division into four parts. Here is where we have inconsistent information. There are those who say 301 B.C. (the Witnesses), or dates that are written. Besides, it is hard to believe that that little horn emerged right after these four generals' wars. As I said, I too, once making a mistake, had believed this date and awaited the year 2000. That is, when one goes 2300 years forward from 301 B.C., one arrives at the year 2000. That one year lost in between occurs in passing from before Christ to after Christ. Although many people awaited an end in the year 2000, their understanding has no relation whatsoever, far or near, to my explanations here. Perhaps they were influenced by the year 2000 as a round number, I do not know. But my researches led me to other historical data too. For instance, that these four generals' dividing of the country may have lasted not until 301 B.C. but until 296 B.C. About this I need your help too, of people expert in the matter of history. But that it is not 301 is certain. Even if these four generals divided the country in 301 B.C., the date of the horn that will emerge from one of them, that is, of the country, is unknown. At least this is so for me for now.
What I wish to say is this: If we know the date of when the little horn that will emerge from one of those four horns came on stage, then when we add 2300 years upon it, this prophecy will come to pass at that time. (Daniel 8:14 and 15-26)
If the prophetic meaning of Nebuchadnezzar's dream about the tree comes to the year 2005, then when we go 2300 years back from the year 2005 we arrive at 296 B.C. But the prophetic word I cannot understand is:
The saying, “Until two thousand three hundred evenings and mornings have come; then the sanctuary shall be purified (cleansed)” (Daniel 8:14)
By this, that is, by “the purifying of the sanctuary,” what is meant? Jesus the Messiah's coming to earth to destroy the wicked? Or Jesus the Messiah's taking up office as king in the heavens? Or the banning of all religions because of transgression? That is, if it symbolizes the continual burnt offering worship, is it drawing attention to the time when this worship will be brought to an end? For if all these religions have brought a stain upon God, can their being destroyed not mean a cleansing, a purifying?! In the Gospel's last book, in Revelation 14:8:
“And another, a second angel, followed, saying: It is fallen, Babylon the great is fallen, which made all the nations drink of the wine of the rage of her fornication,” it says.
The great Babylon here means the whole of the religions on earth. At the same time it emphasizes that the prophecy of Daniel's time has come to pass. According to the prophecy in the book of Revelation, with this event the literally destroyed Babylon mentioned in the book of Daniel, and then the 7 times (2520 years) that had to pass over it, will now have come to pass. With this explanation in Revelation, in my view this is the meaning of the word Daniel heard from the angel.
But there is also this: In Daniel chapter 8, verses 15 to 27, the angel also gives the interpretation of these. That interpretation says that this ruler, who will rise up even against the Prince of princes, that is, against God, will be destroyed together with himself without a hand being laid on him — that is, not by a human but by heavenly powers. This expression, “will be broken without a hand touching it,” also occurs in the statue in the dream Nebuchadnezzar saw concerning those nations. This too is in the sense of meaning that it will be the end of the dominions of all the nations on earth. It is written exactly thus:
And in the days of those kings the God of the heavens will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, and its dominion will not be left to another people; but it will shatter and bring to an end all these kingdoms, and it itself will stand forever. And since you saw that a stone was cut out of the mountain without a hand touching it, and that it shattered the iron, the bronze, the clay, the silver, and the gold, the great God has made known to the king what will happen after this; the dream is true and its interpretation is sure. Old translation Holy Scripture, Daniel 2:44-45.
These verses above were for the dream about the statue (the world powers). In Daniel chapter 8 the vision about the ram and the he-goat (the male goat, that is, the Greek kingdom) occurs. According to the angel's interpretation, the meaning of the time of the end can be drawn. But the reason I cannot do this is, in Daniel 8:13:
I heard a certain holy one speaking; and another holy one said to the one speaking: For how long is this vision concerning the continual burnt offering and the devastating transgression, to give over both the sanctuary and the host (the servants of God, or the great crowd mentioned in the book of Revelation) to be trampled underfoot?
Here, in this question, the angel does not say “for how long is the end of these”; the time he seems to want to know is when the time will be that this whole host and the continual burnt offering will be taken underfoot. Indeed, some understood these 2300 days as literal days. About 7 years or so. In fact, both from the book of Daniel and from Revelation, it is certain that the 3.5 times, 42 months and 1260 days mentioned — these three separately written times — are in a literal sense. Otherwise these days would not have been indicated separately in such a way as to come to the same meaning. It is also written that the dominions of those ten fingers, that is, the ten countries, will last only 3.5 years. (Daniel 7:23-27; Revelation 12:14; Revelation 13:5; Revelation 11:2-3)
To understand the 2300 days literally draws out very meaningless results. If it were understood as about 7 years, whenever and however it comes to pass, this understanding is in no way in harmony with the other prophecies. The Witnesses say these 2300 days draw attention to a convention they themselves held!!! These prophecies given to Daniel carry importance in a way that concerns not only the Witnesses but the whole world. The Christian churches interpret this prophecy in an entirely different way.
Again the church teachings believe that the 70-year exile spoken of by the prophet Jeremiah “means, not for Jerusalem, but the end of Babylon's rule over the nations.” For this reason the year 536 B.C. is accepted as the fall of Babylon. More accurately, they have become so attached to this year 536 that, solely because of their attachment to this date, they are forced to make such an interpretation. That is, 606-70=536. According to them, Babylon's reign over the nations began in 606 B.C. In my view this is very absurd, because Babylon does not begin its pressure over the nations in the year 606. Yes, in 605 B.C. the Babylonian king Nebuchadnezzar comes out against Jerusalem for the first time and even takes the prophet Daniel and his friends into exile. After this the Babylonian king wages war against Jerusalem two more times. (Please research, by looking at the chronological table I have prepared below, whether all these things are so in the Holy Scripture.) That is, as many people suppose, Nebuchadnezzar comes against Jerusalem not once or twice, but three times. We understand better what meaning we must draw, for the beginning of these 70 years and also from the words of the prophet Jeremiah, when we read the whole of chapter 36 of 2 Chronicles in the Holy Scripture. There, clearly, the land that would keep these 70 years of sabbaths was not Babylon but the city of Jerusalem. That is, plainly, Jerusalem had to be entirely burned and destroyed and laid waste so that then this 70-year chronometer would begin to run. We find the most important understanding shedding light on the prophet Jeremiah's words about those 70 years in 2 Chronicles anyway. (Comparing with Jeremiah 25:9-12, read carefully the whole of chapter 36 of 2 Chronicles and especially verse 21 of that chapter.) The Christian church, clinging to only a few words of Jeremiah's, in my view distorts the meaning of this prophecy. They try to make it appear as if the 70 years had to be counted for Babylon, which in a sense is also true. But when we read Jeremiah, it is clearly written there that 70 years must pass after Babylon comes against Jerusalem and the surrounding nations dwelling there and destroys them. (Again, look at Jeremiah 25:9-12.) In fact this is a case like “either Ali Mehmet or Mehmet Ali.” In the end, one way or another, it is the end of Babylon, but the ways of calculating are meaningless and do not accord with the Holy Scripture. Between my interpretation and theirs there is a gap, or difference, of twenty years.
As I said, one truth to which they give the most importance is all the religions' insisting on accepting the year 536 B.C. as the fall of Babylon. Some religions make these dates calculating in a sense as in the understanding system I use, only in a somewhat reversed way. They count 536+70 years upward and get the year 606. By combining, on the basis of the findings in their hands, the year 536 and Jeremiah's prophecy about the 70 years, they say, “There, it all fit together,” and in my view believe a lie. As for me, going 70 years back from the date 586 that has been given, I get the date 516 as the destruction of Babylon. These findings in the dates are caused by their understandings of the Holy Scripture too. If they interpret the Holy Scripture wrongly, the explanations in the history books also become wrong. For this reason the dates given by archaeologists and by the religious are generally opposed to one another. For the archaeologist strives for history to be based on proof, and does not want to leave this business to the religious person's understanding. Sometimes they turn out right and sometimes wrong. Let me put it this way: from time to time archaeologists too err in their findings and the interpretations they make, and so do the religious. But neither group wants to accept this in any way. The most important archaeological findings on this matter are the name of the Persian “Cyrus the Great,” drawing attention to the year 536, written on stones. With pictures resembling war, archaeologists insist on interpreting this in the sense of the fall of Babylon. And yet there are also histories that write that the grandfather of the Persian Cyrus who conquered Babylon was also named Cyrus. And why must those wars in the pictures found necessarily be pictures of the conquest of Babylon? Could there not be yet another Cyrus the Great? Because there is a prophecy about Cyrus in the Holy Scripture, is this title “the Great” necessarily valid solely for one Cyrus? All these men were warlike men of battle. They too had their names written into history with renowns like great, exalted, sublime. At the end of this business I can briefly say, “unfortunately, as with much knowledge of history, we have reasons that require us to doubt the year 536 B.C. too.” On the matter of history, could I too not be making a mistake in taking the year 586 B.C. as the focal point? Yes, I could, and I have, but the greatest reason that encourages me is these people's wrong interpretation of the prophet Jeremiah's prophecy about the 70 years. Of course, I too, confessing, accept that I did not live in those years and make these explanations relying only on the data at hand. If they obtained the year 586 too relying on wrong conclusions, I can say that none of us can know everything fully on the matter of history. I do not believe that God will permit the matter of these subjects to be turned, through research, into a state where the emergence of the truth is impossible. But this still cannot be an excuse for our error.
Anyway, let us say, and let us come to verse 12:11 of Daniel's last book. These verses become one more of the proofs that make me believe most.
And from the time the continual burnt offering is taken away and the devastating abomination is set up… Yes, in my view here the angel draws attention to this time. If it means the continual burnt offering worship, its being taken away does not mean the end coming, but means the beginning of worse events. For with this event the devastating abomination must be set up. About this Jesus too dwelt importantly. That is, about the devastating abomination. The times when there will be great tribulations. In Mark 13:14-23 and in Matthew 24:15, while the year A.D. 70 and the devastating abomination is meant as the Roman army, Jesus always told that event together with the time of the end. So then he tells the similar events of those days together with the last days within the same prophecy. In Daniel's vision about these 2300 days too, it becomes clear that there too the angel draws attention to the same event. Again Daniel 8:13b:
…for how long is this vision concerning the continual burnt offering and the devastating transgression?
So then the devastating abomination is not only the Roman army of that time, but another power that will emerge in the last days. Although they are written in separate places, they all draw attention to the same event. That is, plainly, I mean to say it draws attention to the date of the banning of all religions. If we know fully when, on what date, the little horn emerged, then we can also determine fully the date of that prophecy that will take place in our day. Because we cannot know this fully, again guessing — since Jesus will come to kingdom dominion in the heavens at the end of the year 2005, and since all the events in question in the book of Revelation are also connected with those dates — now only by guessing, but without indicating a definite day, I say that the religions' withdrawal from the world stage may be meant for the time from the end of 2005 to the end of the years 2006. There is something clearer, and that is, since it is written that these ten countries (three among them will be broken) will be in dominion for only 3.5 years, the removal of all religions from the earth, that is, the fall of Babylon mentioned in Revelation, must be within that time. Since such events did not take place in the years 2005 and 2006, from now on we need to give our attention to the events that will take place rather than to historical figures. Instead of clinging to the worldly data at hand on the matter of dates, I say it will be a more guaranteed waiting to take the signs in the prophecies as the basis — again, in my view, of course.
If there is one thing that is certain, it is the words of Jesus the Messiah saying that the generation that began with the First World War in the prophecy about the end will not pass away. (Matthew 24:34; Mark 13:30; Luke 21:32) Until now many religions and sects, drawing out an average number probably according to the statistics of the world bank, or relying on inter-country statistical death figures, called the length of a generation about 80 years. This was human logic, but it could not be called the duration of a generation. God, however, determines how long the length of human life will be, and after Noah's flood says it will be 120 years. (Genesis, or by its new translation name Genesis 6:3.) The length of the generation years Jesus the Messiah meant is also 120 years. This is a definite measure for the length of a generation. According to this understanding, nation rising against nation and country against country first came to pass in the year 1914, with the First World War. If the year 1914 in the prophecy is the beginning of that generation, and 120 years is the length of a generation, that is, it means there is still time until the year 2034. I can comfortably say that I believe this understanding a hundred percent too. Let it by no means be misunderstood; this does not mean the end will come in the year 2034, but that it will have come by the year 2034 at the latest.
Besides, one of the signs that will take place in the meantime is that religions will be banned by the nations over the whole extent of the earth. God too wants this to be so. For all those religions, doing terrible things with His name, became a stain and a shame upon God's name. What I wish to explain is about the time of their end. For people who believe in God with sincerity and uprightness, very difficult periods will begin. What did Jesus say about the last days:
…because of my name all the nations will hate you. Matthew 24:9
Yes, our time has become very narrow. Let us ask ourselves: are we ready to face all these difficulties? In a whole lifetime, what have we learned about God? We ourselves, how much effort have we shown in the direction of God's wishes? If the efforts we have shown are only for the wedding nights, parties, travels, eating, drinking, the greed for money, and only for our pleasures, what recompense can we expect? Or taking upon our backs the burden of a religious institution we have entered will not save us either. There are so many donkeys carrying a burden on their backs! Playing the donkey will never save us. My aim is to encourage you to love God. Not to give a fear that an end will come, as the religions do. If, for the person who dies, the end has already come anyway, again this time is always suitable for all of us, as Jesus said. Then there is no turning back for all those pleasures, ambitions, desires, wars, hatreds, evils of ours. For this reason, please, give weight to this subject before the historical calculations. I did not want to hide this information. For this reason I explained here what I know. Again, as I said, what I write here is not easily understood by people who do not know the Holy Scripture. I believe that even people who do know will have difficulty understanding. But to know these things — yes, by merely knowing these things we will not be saved either. For salvation God demands of us very many other things.
